(b) Leave of Absence. Leaves of absence for personal reasons will be
considered only in exceptional circumstances. However, occasions
may arise when, for personal reasons, you desire extended time off.
Molzen Corbin may grant you a leave of absence without pay for up
to 30 days after you submit a request in writing to your Supervisor
and the Chief Executive Officer. Each leave of absence request is
considered individually, without precedent and there is no guarantee
that such request will be granted. Approval of such request will take
into account your work record, length of service, the nature of your
request, and the Company’s current needs, assignments, and
workload.
Requests for a leave will be approved in writing in a memorandum
indicating the date leave will begin and the date on which it will end.
Requests for an extension of the leave must be submitted in writing
to your Supervisor and Chief Executive Officer at least five days prior
to the expiration of an authorized leave. If you do not return on the
date specified and have not requested and received an extension,
Molzen Corbin will determine that you have voluntarily terminated
your employment with Molzen Corbin.
Credit earned prior to the leave for the purpose of determining the
amount of vacation leave and sick leave will be retained, but such
credit will not accrue during the leave. Group medical insurance and
life insurance coverage will remain in effect during such leave only if
you pay the full premium for all your insurance plans.
2. Short-Term Leaves
(a) Voting. Time off with pay for voting in local, state, or national
elections will not be given unless a staff member’s working hours
prevent him/her from being at the polling place during the hours it is
open. Time off, when granted, will not exceed two hours.
(b) Religious Holidays. Molzen Corbin recognizes that some employees
may wish to observe religious holidays for which time off is not
normally granted. Your Supervisor will attempt to accommodate any
reasonable request for time off for matters of personal religious
conviction. Such time off will be without pay unless you choose to
use your available vacation leave credits or can arrange with your
Supervisor to make up the time lost during the pay week in which the
absence occurs.
