Don’t bother trying to change the world, the world you
see doesn’t even exist.

Ramana Maharshi was an Indian mystic who
reportedly reached enlightenment at a young
age. He said that there are no levels of reality,
only levels of experience of the individual.
That’s a neat way of putting it, isn’t it?
He also emphasized the same thing in referring
to people’s intent on ‘saving the world or
changing the world’ — “Don’t bother trying to
change the world because the world you see
doesn’t even exist.” Basically, what we can
discern from that is the fact that we don’t see
the world as it is, we see the world as we are.
So how do we gain a higher level of awareness?
From experience. But not simply from
experience. Everyone gets experience, but not
everyone grows at the same rate, do they? The
experience must be evaluated in some way and
insight needs to be harvested from the
experience. That insight needs to lead to a
