him I am willing; be clean. In that hour, his leprosy disappeared from him, and he
became clean. The man who was healed began telling the people that he is
healed of his leprosy. Jesus reprimanded him and then said look here, why are
you telling it to men. He commanded him not to tell any man; go first and show
yourself to the priests and make an offering for your cleansing according to what
Moses commanded for a testimony to them. The fame concerning him went out
the more. The people were amazed and spread the word. So, Jesus was no
longer able to enter the city openly. He remained outside in a lonely desert place
in the wilderness to pray, and yet they came to him from every place. Many
people gathered to hear him and to be healed of their diseases.
Capernaum and Head Tax
When they came to Capernaum, those who collect two coins of silver as head tax
came to Peter and said to him, would not your master give his two coins? He
said to them, yes. When Peter entered the house, Jesus anticipated and said to
him what do you think, Peter? Who do the kings of the earth collect custom
duties and head tax from their sons or from strangers? Peter said to him from
strangers. Jesus said to him then the sons are free. So as not to offend them go
to the sea and throw out a hook. The first fish which comes up open its mouth

Parable Seed and Sower
When many people had gathered, and were coming from all the cities Jesus went
out of the house to the sea; because of the crowd he went up and sat in a boat.
The people gathered and stood on the shore by the sea. He then began to teach
and as he taught he spoke in parables. He said listen; Behold the Sower went
out to sow his seed, when he showed some seed fell on the road side; and it was
trodden under foot; and the fowls of the heavens came and ate it. Other seed fell
upon the rock; where there was not sufficient soil; it sprang up earlier because
the ground was not deep enough. When the Sun shone, it was scorched,
because it had no moisture and the ground was not deep enough for its root to
grow and dried up. Other fell among thistles and the thistles sprang up with it and
chocked it and it bore no fruit. Other fell in good fertile soil and sprung up and
bore fruit; some thirty; some sixty; and some one hundred. When he finished this
parable, he spoke out, He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
To You it is Granted
When they were alone by themselves, those who were with him together with the
twelve asked him, why do you speak to them in parables? He answered and said
to them; to you it is granted to know the mystery of the Kingdom of God, but it is
not granted to outsiders. To outsiders everything has to be explained by
parables; for while they see, they do not perceive and while they hear and yet do
