not listen nor do they understand. In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, who
said, hearing you will hear but you will not understand; seeing you will see but
you will not know. The heart of this people has become hardened and their ears
hear heavily and their eyes are dull; so that they cannot see with their eyes, hear
with their ears, and understand with their heart. Let them atone and believe and I
will heal them. As for you, blessed are your eyes for they see; your ears for they
hear. I say to you; a great many prophets and righteous men have longed to see
what you see and did not see it; to hear what you hear and did not hear it.
Why Speak in Parable
The Seven ask him about the parables. He said to them listen to the parable of
the seed. The Sower, who sowed, sowed the word. The seed is the word of God.
Whoever hears the word of the kingdom of God and does not understand it, the
adversary comes immediately and snatches away the word which has been
sown in their hearts. This is that which was sown on the road side and the fowls
of the heavens came and ate. Those which were sown upon the rock are those
who have heard, receive the word with joy and yet have no root in themselves;
their belief is for a while. In time of trail when trouble and persecution comes
because of the word, they soon stumble. Those which were sown among thistles
are those who hear the word, but thoughts of this world, worldly worries,
covetness, lust and the deception caused by riches choke the word and bear not
fruit. Those which were sown in good soil are those who hear my word with a
pure heart. Understand it, keep it and bear fruit one thirty faithful, one sixty
faithful and one a hundred faithful followers. This is the reason I speak to them in
parables. He departed from there with his followers the news spread throughout
all the counties and a great many people from Judea, Idumea, from Jerusalem,
all around Jordan, Tyre, and from Sodom; large crowds who heard all that he
was doing came to him. He healed those who needed healing. He taught his
followers daily and spoke in the Synagogues on the Sabbaths throughout
Galilee, and cast out evil men. While they were on the journey, a man came up to
him and said, my Lord, I will follow you wherever you go. Jesus said to him, foxes
have holes and the birds of the air a shelter; but the Son of man has no place
even to lay his head.
Nazareth
Jesus came to Nazareth of Galilee preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
saying the time has come to an end, the kingdom of God is at hand, atone and
believe the Gospel. He entered the Synagogue on the Sabbath day, as was the
custom, and stood up to read. The book of the prophet Isaiah was given to him.
Jesus opened the book, and found the place where it is written. The Spirit of the
Lord is upon me; because of this he has anointed me, to preach good tidings to
the poor; he has directed me to heal the broken hearten; to proclaim release to
the captives; sight to the blind; to strengthen with forgiveness those who are
