bruised and to teach the acceptable year of the Lord. He closed the book and
gave it to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of all who were in the
Synagogue were fixed on him. He began to say to them; today this scripture is
fulfilled in your ears. All testified to him and were amazed by the words of grace
which came out of his mouth. They said is not this man the son of Joseph? Jesus
said to them, you might tell me this proverb physician, heal yourself; all that we
heard you did in Capernaum do also here in your own city. Then he said I say to
you no prophet is welcomed in his own city. There were many widows in Israel in
the days of the prophet Elijah. Three years and six months the heaven did not
rain. There was a great famine throughout the land yet Elijah was not sent to one
of them but to Zarephath of Sidon to a widow. There were many Lepers in Israel
in the days of the prophet Elisha. Yet not one of them was cleansed except
Naaman the Syrian. When the Jewish Elders who were in the Synagogue heard
these things, they were all filled with anger. They rose up and took him outside
the city and brought him to the brow of the mountain on which their city was built
that they might throw him down from a cliff. His followers gathered around him
and he stood in the midst of them and passed through the people and they went
away.
Marriage Feast
There was a marriage feast in Cana, a city of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus
was there. Jesus, Andrew, his brother Peter, James, his brother John, Philip,
Nathaniel, and Matthew along with many followers were also invited to the
marriage feast. John the Baptist and some of his disciples were also present.
When the wine ran low, his mother said to Jesus, they have no wine. Jesus said
to her, what is it to me and to you, woman? My turn has not yet come. His mother
said to the helpers, whatever he tells you, do it. There were seven stone jars
placed there for the purification of the Jews, which could hold several gallons
each. Jesus said to them, fill the jars with water; and they filled them up to the
brim. Then he said to them, draw out now and bring it to the chief guest of the
feast. They drew out the water that had become wine and brought it to the Best
Man. When the Best Man tasted the water that had become wine, he did not
know where it had come; but the helpers knew who had drawn the water. Then
the Best Man called to the Bridegroom and said to him, every man at the first
brings the best wine; and when they have drunk, then that which is diluted; but
you have kept the best wine until now. This is the first miracle which Jesus
performed in Cana of Galilee, and thus he showed his glory; and his followers
believed in him.
Jesus Instruct All
Jesus began to teach and said whoever believes in me, just as the scriptures
have said; the living water shall flow out from within him. He said this concerning
the Spirit which they who believe in him received. The world will not see me but
