Parable Boys in the Street
To whom shall I liken this generation? It is like boys who sit in the street and call
to their friends. We have interpreted to you but you did not crusade; Lightning
and thunder have struck but you did not atone and believe. John came, neither
eating nor drinking, and they said, He is insane. The Son of man came, eating
and drinking and they said an over eater and a wine-bibber a friend of publicans
and sinners. Yet Wisdom is justified by all his works.
Parable the Bridegroom
Then the followers of John came up to him and said we always fast and pray and
also those of the Pharisees fast; but your followers eat, drink and do not fast. He
said to them I cannot make the sons of the wedding feast fast as long as the
bridegroom is with them? The day will come when the bridegroom shall be taken
from them. Then they will fast in those days.
Parable Great Marriage Feast
He spoke and said, the kingdom of God is like a King who gave a great marriage
feast for his son, and he sent out his angels at supper time to call those who
were invited to the marriage feast. My supper is ready for you. My oxen and
fatling are killed and everything is prepared come to the marriage feast. They
began to make excuses. The first said to his angels. I have bought a field. I am
forced to go and see it. I beg you to excuse me for being called away. The next
said I have bought five yoke of oxen and I am going to examine them. I beg you
excuse me for being called away. The next said I have just taken a wife and
cannot come. The angels told the King and he said to his angels the marriage
feast is ready. Those who are invited are not worthy. Go bring in the poor, the
afflicted, the maimed, the blind and the lame. Invite them to the marriage feast.
The servant went out and gathered together everyone they could and separated
the bad from the good. The wedding house was filled with the quest. When the
King entered his house to see the guest he saw there a man who was not
wearing wedding garment. He said to the angels bind that man’s hand and his
feet. He has no wedding garment. Take him outside and come in and lock the
door. Outside, there shall be weeping and mashing of teeth. Many are invited few
are called
Parable New Wine
He spoke another parable, no man poor’s new wine into worn out wine skins. The
new wine will ferment and expand then tear open the old skins. The wine will run
out and the skins will be ruined. They pour new wine into new skins and both of
them are well preserved. No man drinks new wine and then wants old wine. He
says the new is delicious why would I want the old.
