Parable New Garment

No man cuts a patch from a new garment and then sows it on an old worn out
garment. The new will not blind with the old. The new patch will weaken the old
and the whole will become worse.

                                                 Not Peace but a Sword

Do not believe that I have come to bring peace on earth. I have not come to bring
peace but a sword. I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter
against her mother, a daughter in law against her mother in law. A man’s
enemies will be the members of his own household. Whoever loves father or
mother more than me is not worthy of me. Whoever loves son or daughter more
than men is not worth of me. Whoever does not risk his life for my sake and
follow me is not worthy of me. He who is concerned about his life shall lose it. He
who loses his life for my sake shall find it.

The scribes and Pharisees went out and they took counsel concerning him. His
followers came up and said to him, the Pharisees who heard these sayings were
offended? He said to them, every plant that my Father did not plant shall be
pluck out dried up gathered and thrown into the fire. Leave them alone; they are
blind pathfinders for the blind. If the blind lead the blind both will capitulate pass
on and burn in the furnace of fire. Jesus said to his followers, have you
understood all these things? They said to him yes, our Lord. He said to them
every scribe who is converted to the kingdom of God is like a man who is a
householder who brings out new issues from his heart. He said blessed are your
ears for they hear. Now the Passover was nearing so Jesus and his follower
journeyed toward Jerusalem on the way they passed through Jericho.

                                                          Zaccai
Jesus entered Jericho. There was a man named Zaccai who was rich and chief
of the tax collectors. He wanted to see who Jesus was but he could not because
of the crowd. Zaccai was small in stature. He ran ahead of Jesus and climbed up
into a barren fig tree that he might see him. When Jesus came to that place he
saw him and said to him come down Zaccai today I must stay at your house. He
straightway came down and welcomed him with pleasure into his house. Jesus
and some of his followers reclined with Zaccai. When the Elders and Pharisees
saw, him enter the house of Zaccai, they murmured saying he has entered to
stay in the house of a sinner. While they were reclining in the house Zaccai rose
up and said to Jesus my Lord half of my wealth I will give to the poor. I will pay
fourfold to every man from whom I have extorted. Jesus said to him today life has
come to this house because you believe you are a son of God. The Son of man
came to seek and save that which was lost. While they were listening, he
continued by speaking a parable, because he was near Jerusalem.
