Radios, Pagers, and Cell Phones
Ranger vehicles are equipped with radios and siren/public address units. Rangers are also issued
individual portable radios (pack set), cell phones and pagers; proficiency using all equipment and
tools is expected. Radios and pagers should be worn in approved holsters and not carried in
pockets; however, cell phones may be carried in holsters or pockets. Rangers must charge their
radios nightly and may keep chargers at home for this purpose; replacement batteries for radios
              and pagers will be provided.

Radios are the single most important and frequently used piece of ranger equipment. Rangers are
solely responsible for the care of any radio, pager, cell phone, and charger assigned to them.
Rangers should be familiar with and comply with city cell phone policies.

              Wearing Uniforms Off Duty
Rangers may not wear their uniforms or partial uniforms when off duty and away from the
department if they identify them as rangers, such as shirts with patches and t-shirts with logos. When
traveling directly to and from work, rangers may choose to wear their full uniform, including duty belt
and all required equipment. If they are not so equipped while traveling to and from work, or are in
easily identified partial uniforms, then other clothing must cover uniforms.
