customers. I also hope to leave the legacy of being a part of transitioning DDS to DRIVES. I went through a
similar transition at GDOC and know the pain and joy of moving to a new environment.
Tell me about your family? Kids?
I am an only child and my Dad, who will turn 90 in the fall, is still alive and living in Lilburn near my family.
I have been married to my wife, Virginia, for 30 years this September. She is a stay-at-home caregiver for my
Dad and keeps all of us guys in the family straight. She has degrees in Education and Medical Lab Technology
which have come in very handy as our boys were growing up and as my dad gets older. My oldest son, Kaiser,
is 25 and currently works part-time at the Lawrenceville CSC while attending Georgia Gwinnett College
majoring in computer science. My youngest son, Kuttler, is 22 and works as an intern at Shell Oil after
graduating from Georgia Tech. He will return to GaTech in the fall for his Masters in Mechanical Engineering.
We attend Grace Fellowship Church in Snellville and are a Host Family for the “Kosovo Hope” Program. Just
recently we hosted a student, Ardit, for 2+ years and continue to be involved in the program.
What two words would your sons use to describe you?
Depending upon which one you ask, it might be words like meticulous, sarcastic, clean, or handy.
What hobbies do you enjoy away from the office?
I enjoy scuba diving and have been doing this for at least 28 years. My favorite spots to scuba dive are in Belize,
Cozumel, and West Palm Beach. I also enjoy hiking, camping, wood working, and working on cars. Working on
cars is a necessity since my MG is always in need of something!
What’s in your lunch bag?
It would either be whatever we had for dinner last night or a “Healthy Choice” frozen dinner!
Since you’re a “House Divided,” who do you cheer for at the annual UGA vs GaTech football game?
No questions asked, I root for Georgia Tech and nobody else. You gotta love the the “White and Gold.”
Where is the most unusual place you have ever had a meal?
It would have been on the bottom of a raft at the edge of a river in Costa Rica. Virginia and I were white water
rafting and the river guides put together a meal with traditional foods like papayas, chicken, rice, beans, and
tortillas.
What hidden talent do you have that few people know about?
You might call me a Dog Whisperer of sorts as I’ve been known to train dogs for family members and friends.
I’m also pretty good at playing poker!
What is your favorite TV show? Movie?
For TV shows, I’d have to say that I enjoy watching “Naked and Afraid” and “Better Call Saul!” I’ve also seen
every episode of “Seinfeld!” For movies, I’d have to say any “Monty Python” movie and “Guardians of the
Galaxy!”
If you’re enjoying a day off, what are you doing?
I’d probably be hiking in the woods of North Georgia on the Appalachian Trail.
