Getting to Know...
Jeff Smith, Chief Information Officer
An Atlanta native and life-long Gwinnettian, with a degree from Georgia State University, 2 sons in college, a
MG that needs attention, and a caring wife of 30 years, Jeff Smith opens up to the DDS Scoop!
Where did you work prior to coming to DDS? What brought you to DDS?
I previously worked at the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDOC) for 20+ years where I served as the
Enterprise Systems Manager and the acting CIO. When GDOC moved to the old Tift College Campus in Forsyth,
it was an 85-mile trip each way from home. I did this for several years until stumbling across an Information
Systems Officer (ISO) position at DDS which I applied for. The rest is history!
What do you hope to leave as your legacy at DDS?
I’d like to leave having created an environment where IT is able to deliver projects faster, where IT is seen as
being proactive, and where IT has a reputation of being customer service focused for both internal and external
