It was appraised that this flyover was not designed for IRC Loading and therefore
heavy vehicles were not allowed to run on this flyover in spite of having hundreds
of labour, staff and Engineers involved in this project. With the intention to
provide a world class infrastructure to The City of Oranges, The Government of
Maharashtra, green flagged this project and in the year of August 1997, the
Bhoomi Pujan was done. This structure has been the pride of many Nagpurians
because for the first time in Maharashtra, Mushroom type piers were used and the
pre-cast prestressed girders had an unmatched finish and durability properties.
