2.5.3 Timber Ceiling Beams
102 x 50mm engineered timber ceiling beams
will be installed in random spacings to match the
setting out of the 102mm timber wall planks as
noted on the project drawings. The dimensions
and setting out of the ceiling beams will be
annotated on the project drawings and should
also follow these rules;
1. The bottom of the beams must never be
lower than 2250mm, If the ceiling is lower
than 2300mm AFFL the ceiling beams should
be omitted.
2. The beams must always be 50mm deep.
3. Beams must have end cappings when not
adjacent to wall.
The timber ceiling beams will be supplied by
Paradigm and are to be made from 20mm
Engineered Oak Flooring, mitred and glued,
finished with 20% lacquer. The beams will be
mechanically fixed to 9mm MDF hanging
pattresses, secured on site via proprietary unistrut
system to manufacturer’s details and installed
on-site by the contractor via M8 threaded bars.
Beams are to be provided in two standard
lengths of 1900mm and 3800mm but can be cut
on site, providing varying beam lengths to suit the
project drawings. The 3800mm beams consist of
two 1900mm beams joined together by 150 x 60
x 20mm solid timber jointing pattresses.
