Step 5
Sealing & Assembling Containment Walls
Make sure floor is clear of any debris. Sealing should be done as
containment walls are assembled. Apply a 3/8” bead of acid-resistant
sealant to the bottom surface of each containment barrier wall as they are
put into place. To insure liquid-tight containment around base of
components, apply a 3/8” bead of acid-resistant sealant around the inside
of the containment as well as around all feet of the battery rack(s).
Applying Sealant to barrier walls is required with all applications
Figure 5
Place the floor anchor bolts in the drop-in floor anchor assemblies and
hand-tighten floor anchor bolts. As you install each barrier wall to the
floor, apply 3/8” bead of sealant at the vertical joints of the components.
Bolt and tighten each containment wall as it is added to the assembly
(torque to 110 inch/lbs). After the components have been attached,
secure the assembled barrier wall to the floor by tightening the floor
anchor assembly bolts using a 7/16” socket (torque to 110 inch/ lbs).
Apply a 3/8” bead of sealant along the inside of the containment walls. A
small amount of water may be used to help smooth the sealant and
enhance the bead of the seal.
