Rick created and then continuously improved the Supply Chain Commercialization Competency model
standard work that rates Interns/Co-Ops skill levels, identifying areas of interest and core competencies
needed at the beginning of their time with GOJO Industries Inc., and tracks the knowledge gain during through
project advancement. This tool helps guide the Intern/Co-Op as well as their mentor to areas they want to
explore based on our business needs. The tool can also be used to track progress in an easy to use format for
school updates as well as resume building.

Rick identified the need to help Interns/Co-Ops focus on areas that supplied a business need. Rick was part of
the original team that brought this thought process into action with our standard GOJO Industries, Inc.,
employees in 2016. His reapplying and adjusting to use the current tool; creating a more compressed scale
and goal structure for the Intern/Co-Op level was ground breaking. Rick's work has been cross functionally
used within the Supply Chain Commercialization department.
What were the results of the individual’s or team’s behaviors?
Rick developed an Intern/Co-Op Packaging Engineering Competency model for Supply Chain
Commercialization that was the reason GOJO Industries Inc., secured the top candidate at this years MSU
career fair.
