Client: Engie
Starting on site in April 2019, with a finish date of April 2020, Engie has
appointed Rotary Building Services Yorkshire Region as preferred contractor
to design and deliver the energy centres on the £850 million redevelopment

of St James in Edinburgh. The redevelopment will create 850,000ft of retail
space anchored by John Lewis, a multi-screen cinema and a world class
W Hotel comprising of 214 rooms as well as 150 private apartments
offering breath taking views over the city.
The new energy centre facilities are located in two spaces within the
development, one adjacent to the car park in the basement and the other
in the south east corner of the development on the roof of the John Lewis
building. Rotary will supply, install and commission, in the basement energy
centre, a 1.2MW packaged CHP unit, 3.5MW gas boilers, 20,000ltr thermal
stores, absorption chiller and other associated plant items.
On the John Lewis building roof Rotary will supply, install and commission
1.7MW chillers, adiabatic coolers, HV switchgear and electrical transformers
along with other associated plant items.
