4.1 UNIVERSITY OF NAMIBIA’S MANDATE
To provide higher education, undertake research, advance and disseminate knowledge, to provide
extension services, to encourage the growth and nurturing of cultural expressions within the context
of the Namibian society, to further training and continuing education, contribute to social and
economic development of Namibia, and to foster relationships with any person or institution both
nationally and internationally – University of Namibia Act of 1992 (Act 18 of 1992)

To contribute to the achievement of national and international development goals through the
pursuit of translational research, quality training and innovation.
