Ugyen shot her a sad look, “I don’t think I can’t have an
affair with you.” He paused. “You understand my
situation, don’t you?”

“Oh, really?” she snapped. “Are you a superstar to reject
me?”

Ugyen slipped her arms around her shoulder. “See, let’s
be straight, okay?”

Before he could complete, Tshoden dropped on her
knees and sobbed bitterly.

He tucked her sleek hair between her ears and continued,
“I don’t think I deserve you. I am nothing and I have
nothing like you.”

Tshoden instantly stopped sobbing and looked up at his
face. “Tell me, what do I have? What is it that makes me
different from you?”

“Tshoden, you don’t seem to understand me.”

She hid her face in her palms and sniffled harder. “You
don’t seem to understand me!”

“Okay, but I think it’s too early for us to have the affair.
Can’t we wait until we complete studies? I have lots of
obligations to attain.”
