TEARS OF SUFFERING

9 THE INFIDELITY

Ugyen crooned whenever he helped Au Lham in the
kitchen. His voice amazed Au Lham. As his mellifluous
voice echoed across the kitchen walls, Au Lham crooned
with him.

On a class picnic in the open field, friends insisted Ugyen
sing his favorite numbers. He shook his head, but
someone handed him the mike. He cleared his throat. A
few friends chuckled looking at him, but he continued
singing. Far behind everyone was Tshoden cringing and
blushing. As Ugyen’s voice wafted through the air, her
heart palpitated. It was like a pro singer’s voice.

Birds added music to his voice. Everything around was
calm as if he had lulled nature to sleep. The song narrated
his past. Tears glimmered his eyes. When he finished, a
round of applause burst through the atmosphere. An
unusual feeling prompted Tshoden to grasp Ugyen in her
arms.
