“I mean it.”
“You’re smart. I mean it,” replied Tshoden as she
giggled. “I think I must leave. Bye, Au.”
“Bye. Do visit me again.”
“Sure,” she said as she scurried out.
She visited him again the next day, but Au Lham and
Ugyen were at home. “Hi, Ugyen,” she said.
Ugyen hugged her. “Long time no see.”
“Yeah, it’s been quite some time.” She looked around.
“Where’s Au Samphel?”
Eyes popping out, Ugyen. “Au Samphel? He is still
sleeping. Why?”
“Just wanted to see him,” she replied in a low-toned of
voice. “He told me to come.”
For a moment, Ugyen froze at the door, as his heart
wrenched. “Oh, really?”
She strode into the room without hesitation. Ugyen
watched her in bafflement. With a sharp pain in his heart,
he entered the kitchen to help Au Lham.
“Who is it?” asked Au Lham.
