“Tea is ready. Serve here.”
Ugyen did the dishes without answering her.
“What’s the matter?”
“Nothing.”
“Tell me, you can’t hide anything from me.”
“Tshoden has come to see Au Samphel.”
Mouth wide open, Au Lham blanked at him. “What?
Drat, how dare she!”
“Lower your voice, please,” said Ugyen. “It’s okay.”
Au Lham placed her hands on her hips. “No, it’s not
okay. How could she betray you?” She grunted. “Wait
and watch, I’ll tell this to Ama.”
“Please don’t do it, Au,” said Ugyen.
“Why not?”
“I won’t be happy if you told this to Ama.”
Au Lham let out a grunt of disgust. “That bloody girl!”
