Tshoden sat on the sofa and thought about Ugyen. “I
don’t know about him. I haven’t met him for days?”
“I think you should go and ask him,” he said.
Fingers shaking, Tshoden pressed the doorbell switch. A
pang of guilt crept into her heart.
Au Lham opened the door. At Tshoden’s sight, Au Lham
scrunched up her face. Recollecting Ugyen’s plight, she
gaped at Tshoden. “What are you looking for?”
“I want to see Ugyen, please,” said Tshoden.
On hearing Ugyen’s name, Au Lham clenched her teeth.
“Why do you want to see him?”
Tshoden hung her head. “The result.”
“No need, Ama has told him. Leave now.”
Ugyen appeared. “Who is it?”
“Tshoden,” huffed Au Lham. “She has brought you
another trouble.”
“It’s okay, Au,” said Ugyen. “You can go. I will talk to
her.” He turned to Tshoden. “Yes?”
Tears glimmered in her eyes. “How’s your result?”
“Ama said I qualified.”
