STUDENTS: TIME AND ATTENDANCE POLICY AND STANDARDS
Attendance, Absences & Tardies (Students)
All grade level teachers are responsible for attendance at 10:00 A.M. Attendance must be entered
on the computer at 10:00 A.M. or later. A general office reminder will be given at the beginning
of the second period daily.
It is the responsibilty of the homeroom teacher to document and report to the attendance clerk, a
pattern of tardiness or student absences for two consective days so that a parent or guardian can be
appropriately notified.
A student must be recorded as absent if he/she is not physically present online or on campus at
10:00 A.M. unless he/she comes to school later that same day and has a note from a medical
professional indicating that he/she had a doctor’s appointment earlier in the day.
Student must bring a Return to School Form directly upon return to school.
A student is to be recorded as tardy if he/she is not in his/her online or in-person classroom
promptly at 7:15 A.M.
Parents of students reporting late to online classes 3 or more times will receive online written
notification. Under regular school conditions, students will be automatically marked tardy in
WebSmart. After three (3) unexcused tardies, parents must attend a virtual or face-to-face
conference with the principal. Attendance and on-time arrival are important indicators of a child’s
success.
In addition to the importance of keeping accurate records merely for the benefit of our students
and our school, some state and federal funding for our school depends on accurate reporting of
student attendance. Please take this job seriously and record correct data. We receive our
funding based on these documents.
The following is an example of attendance marks to be placed in your grade book. All teachers
are directed to use the assigned legend below.
1. (E) Date entered class after the first day.
2. (W) Date withdrew from class
3. (A/E) Absent-excused
4. (A/U) Absent-unexcused
