Lastly, the following are the recommendations: (1) Since very few school paper
advisers had finished their master’ degree and doctoral degree, concerned school paper advisers
must be encouraged to enhance their professional growth through pursuing their graduate
and post graduate studies to further enhance their capabilities as advisers in handling campus
journalism; (2) Concerned school paper advisers must level-up their performance making it
excellent the year-round so as to improve their management of campus journalism; (3) School
paper advisers’ effectiveness in managing campus journalism should be enhanced by attending
higher level trainings or seminars in campus journalism to further ensure better advising for
the pupil writers and in the management of school paper; (4) School paper advisers should
continue to improve their management practices especially in planning and implementing to
further enhance their management.
HEALTH AND EDUCATION SERVICES FOR CHILDREN WITH AUTISM
VINCENT I. GATTUD
This study determined the status of education services of children with autism in terms
of its objectives, strategies & methods, and programs; and the status of health services for
children with autism along the aspects of its service providers, objectives and, related concerns.
It also delved on the level of seriousness on the problems encountered in the health and
education services.
The following are the findings of the study: 1) Most of the parents of children with autism
are married, college graduates, have 1-2 children, have a monthly income of 15,001-20,000 and
availed education and health services for over seven years, teacher’s earned units in masters
degree, taught special education for 1-3 years, affiliated with professional organizations, and
have over seven related trainings for the past five years; 2) In terms to the status of education
services along its objectives and strategies & methods, parents appraised it as moderately
implemented while the teachers perceived higher as fully implemented, in terms of programs,
and resources component, the teachers and parents perceived as fully implemented for the
programs and fully adequate for the resources, along the aspect of its service providers was
described as somewhat availed by the parents, teachers described as moderately serious; 3)
there were no significant differences among the parents of the children with autism in terms of
the length in availing the service, number of children, educational attainment and civil status
while it is the number trainings for the teachers. However, significant differences were observed
considering the teachers educational attainment, years of teaching special education, and
organizational affiliation while it varied also for the parent’s socio-economic status; 4) There is no
significant relationship found in the assessment of the parents and teachers of the children with
autism along educational service objectives, strategies and methods, programs and resources;
including health service objectives and health service related concerns. A significant relationship
was found along the health service as assessed by the respective parents and teachers of
