specifically on collaboration and teamwork. In general, nurses’ attendance to diabetes education
training is a factor that affects level of competence of nurses. Significant relationship exists on
attendance to training and seminars particularly to Advanced Cardiac Life Support and two areas
of nursing competence namely Personal and Professional Development and Collaboration and
Teamwork. Meanwhile, no significant relationship exists between age, sex, and length of service
and the difference areas of nursing competence.
The study concluded that the respondent-nurses are qualified and well-trained
professionals. The respondents are highly competence professionals who are assigned in the
emergency room. The hospital administrators/ officials know that best nurses are assigned to
the emergency room. There is no need for an enhancement program for the respondent-nurses
assigned to the emergency room. However, they should continue to attend to their “Continuing
             professional Education Program”.
Based on the findings and conclusion, the following recommendations are offered: The
nurses assigned to emergency room should pursue continuing education such as enrolling the
nursing graduate studies and undergo more relevant training applicable to emergency nursing.
Staff nurses assigned to the emergency room should also be given an opportunity to be involved
in training other nurses in the emergency care nursing. The nurses assigned to the emergency
room should continue to attend the continuity Professional Education Program. Other studies
should be conducted in the other areas of the nursing care in hospital care service
