weighted mean is 3.78, for love and belongingness the average weighted mean is 4.46, along
self esteem the average weighted mean is 4.33, along the four different hierarchies of needs
the overall weighted mean is 4.12. (3) On the differences; basic needs, safety and security, love
and belongingness and self esteem cause a significant effect on psychological care among elders
with significance values of .000 which are all less than the 0.05 level of significance. (4) On
the relationship between the elders’ extent of psychological care across their profile variables:
Age has no significant relationship on basic needs but has significant relationship on safety and
security, love and belongingness and self esteem and has a significant relationship on the overall
extent of psychological care. Sex has no significant relationship on basic needs, safety and
security, love and belongingness and self esteem.
The following conclusions were drawn: (1) Majority of the respondents were 65-69
years old, females , were already married, able to reach high school level , were living with
their immediate family or so called nuclear and has 1,000 and below as their monthly income.
             (2) There was an extensive psychological care among the elderly along basic needs, safety and
security, love and belongingness and self esteem. (3) There is a significant difference in the
extent of psychological care along basic needs, safety and security, love and belongingness
and self esteem. Thus the researcher’s hypothesis stating that there is no significant difference
in the extent of psychological care along the different hierarchy of needs is rejected. (4) On
the relationship of psychological care across their profile variables, age, highest educational
attainment, family structure and monthly income are related to the extent of psychological care
             among elders.

to have check-ups (4) Nurses and other health care providers must impart health teachings
that could improve their conditions. (5) Holistic care must be available to elders regardless
of their status whether they are rich or poor. (6) Assistive devices must also be available to
elders especially to those who need assistance in ambulation and in doing their activities of
