the respondents are moderately aware.
In light of the foregoing findings of the study, the following conclusions were drawn;
1) Majority of the respondents are adolescent in their secondary education, belonged to a small
family and the eldest among the siblings. The parents finished their college degree and presently
working in their own field earning an ample income to sustain their basic needs and belonged
to the most dominated religion, 2) The student respondents were not aware and knowledgeable
along the causes and its manifestation but have ideas on how they will avoid the disease and
its management, 3) An information dissemination material on cervical cancer for women is
formulated.
Furthermore, the researcher arrived at the following recommendations; 1) It is strongly
recommended that topic on cervical cancer will be integrated in their health subjects for them
to be aware of the risks and outcome of the disease. Parents must submit their children for
HPV vaccination for the prevention of cervical cancer, 2) Continuous information dissemination
especially on the preventive measures must be done among parents and students for them
to understand the disease itself, 3) The Proposed information dissemination material must
be adapted and distributed to schools and the rural health units, 4) More studies on level of
awareness on cervical cancer should be undertaken in a wider perspective.
KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDES AND PRACTICES OF GERIATIC NURSES

This study assessed the nurses’ ability to assist elderly by eliciting their extent of
knowledge, practices and attitudes towards elderly. The respondents include all nurses and
volunteer nurses assigned in the geriatric area of Pangasinan Provincial Hospital in San Carlos
City. Specially, the study sought to answer questions on the 1) profile of the respondents: 2)
extent of knowledge of the respondents on elderly care along physical, mental, emotional, social
and spiritual aspects: 3) attitudes towards elderly; 4)extent of practices of the respondents on
elderly care along physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual; 5) difference in the extent
of knowledge and practices of the respondents on the different aspects of elderly care; 6)
relationship between the extent of knowledge, attitude and practices of the respondents and
their profile variables and 7) relationship of the extent of knowledge, attitudes and practices
towards elderly care.
It employed the descriptive methods of research and employed the frequency count,
weighted mean, t-test and Pearson-r coefficient of correlation.
The following are the findings of the study based on the specific problems raised;
The respondents are mostly nurses and volunteer nurses who are 21-25 years old (24 or 68.6
percent), single (33 or 94.3 percent), Bachelor’s degree holder who have attended at most one
geriatric training and handling geriatric patients with cardio-vascular, GIT, GUT and sensory
cases; (2) The respondents are highly knowledgeable in all aspects of elderly care along physical,
