                               JENNY-LYNN P. JAVONILLO

The study determined the attitudes of nurses in the application of Faye Abdellah’s
Theory in the Delivery Room of three selected hospitals in Eastern Pangasinan. With the use of
descriptive survey method of research and questionnaire as the data gathering tool, this study

status, highest educational attainment, monthly family income, and years in service; (2)The
attitudes of nurses in the application of Faye Abdellah’s Theory along safety, hygiene, nutrition,
oxygenation, comfort, and communication; (3) The significant difference between the nurses’
profile and their attitudes in the application of Faye Abdellah’s Theory; and (4) The significant
relationship between the nurses’ profile and their attitude in the application of Faye Abdellah’s
       Theory.
The descriptive survey method research was employed in the study and there were 36
nurses who responded to the questionnaire. Analyses of the collected data were done through
the use of various statistical tools namely frequency counts, percentages, weighted means,
analysis of variance (ANOVA) and correlation.
The following are the findings based on the specific problems posed in this research
study. (1)The respondent-nurses are mostly females (25 or 69%), majority are aged 20-25
       (20 or 56%) and were single (26 or 72%), most were bachelor’s degree holder (31 or 86%).
Consequently, many of them have a monthly family income of Php5, 000 below (16 or 44%).
Meanwhile 12 or 33% have 5 years or more years of service. (2)The attitude of the nurses in
the application of Faye Abdellah’s Theory in the Delivery Room as to safety, hygiene, nutrition,
oxygenation, comfort, and communication showed “Agree with the average weighted means of
       3.73, 3.50, 3.58, 3.50, 3.73, and 3.58 respectively. (3) There exists a significant difference in the
difference between the nurses’ profile and their attitudes in the application of Faye Abdellah’s
Theory. (4) In terms of the relationship between the nurses’ profile and their attitude in the
application of Faye Abdellah’s Theory there exists a significant relationship.
Based from the aforementioned findings, the following conclusions were drawn: (1)
The respondents are dominated by females, majority are young adult, single, bachelor’s degree
holder, have low income, and 5 years above in service. (2) The respondents need to apply
more of the indicators mentioned in the study to improve their attitudes in the application of
Faye Abdellah’s Theory in the Delivery Room hence, their attitude will “Strongly Agree” with the
