their 3rd birthday celebration. 2) The mother respondents have good physical, psychological,
social, emotional, spiritual and economical coping mechanisms towards children with heart
ailments.
Based on the findings of the study, the researcher has attained the following conclusions
and generalizations: 1) The mother of children with children with heart ailments were dominated
by middle adult married women who reached college education and are earning an average
income. The increasing number of children with heart ailments is common among first two
children of an average number family and usually diagnosed at birth. 2) The impact of the
diagnostic of a child with heart ailments on omthers that they make in order to overcome future
challenges, are dependent on many interrelated factors. These factors are both internally and
externally determined and the role each factor plays in enabling positve adjustment is complex.
Most of the mother-respondents draw upon a range of strengths and abilities, and friends and
families can act as significant resources.
Based on the findings and conclusions presented, the researcher arrived at the following
recommendations: 1) Pre-pregnancy counseling should be undertaken among mothers who are
prone to have a child with heart ailment taking into account the external and internal factors
influencing its prevalence. 2) A more intensified measure should be undertaken by the mothers
adopting different coping mechanisms and maximizing their potentials in in addressing their
family situation and healthcare needs of their child with heart aiments. 3) Incorporation of
the proposed program to help mothers cope with caring for their chidren with heart ailments
is highly recommended taking into account the individual needs and priorities of their child
and family. 4) Further studies should be conducted on commitment of care provides to trauma
patients in a wider perspective.
PSYCHOLOGICAL CARE AMONG ELDERLY

This study aimed to determine the psychological care among elderly. Specifically
it sought to answer the following questions: (1) profile of the respondents in terms of age,
sex, civil status, highest educational attainment, family structure and monthly income of the
respondent; (2) the extent of psychological care among the elderly along basic needs, safety and
security, love and belongingness and self esteem; (3) significant difference of psychological care
along the different hierarchy of needs; (4) significant relationship between the elders’ extent of
psychological care across their profile variables.
The following were findings of the study. (1) Majority of the elder respondents were 65-
69 years old, female dominated respondents and were already married, were able to reach high
school level and some were able to graduate. In addition, majority lived with their immediate
family or so called nuclear, have Php 1,000 and below. (2) On the overall extent of psychological
care along basic needs the average weighted mean is 3.90, along safety and security the average
