ST
CLAVILLE M. JAVIER
This study sought to determine the level of effectiveness of enhanced learning styles
of Grade 7 students in the 21st century along: visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles in
Umingan National High School SY. 2015-2016. Specifically, problem No. 1 focused on the profile
of the respondents which included variables namely: age, sex, general average obtained last
school year, position in the family and economic status of the family. Problem No. 2 dealt with
the level of effectiveness of enhance learning styles of students in the 21st century along: visual,
auditory and kinethetics learning styles. Problem No. 3 focused on the significant differences
between the effectiveness of learning style and the profile variables. Problem No. 4 focused on
the significant relationships between the level of effectiveness of learning styles of students and
the profile variables. Problem No. 5 dealt on the problems encountered by the students with their
learning styles as perceived by them and their teachers.
The following are the findings of this study: Most of the respondent-students belong to
12 years old, mostly females, with general average of 81.85. Mostly are eldest child and have
P5, 000 below economic status or income. The respondents level of effectiveness in the different
enhance learning styles got an overall weighted mean of 3.60 equivalent to “effective”. The
following obtained a rating: visual learning style 3.88, auditory leaning style 3.80 and kinesthetic
learning style 3.30.
The following conclusions were drawn: The level of effectiveness of the learning styles
of the respondents is not high enough based on the mean results. Students should strive more
to improve their learning along the different styles. Teachers should also improve their teaching
strategies to improve delivery of instruction to enhance students’ effectiveness. Students must
improve their study habits and must have positive outlook in dealing with the different learning
styles. The problems encountered by the respondents as perceived by them and the problems
as perceived by their teachers are “moderately serious” respectively. The profile variables of the
respondents are comparable to their level of effectiveness in the different learning styles, but
not in all aspects.
The following recommendations are hereby offered: All concerned students must be
encouraged to improve their level of effectiveness by exerting more efforts and improving their
study habits. Other related factors that vary to improve the level of effectiveness of the different
learning styles must be improved. Better inputs should be given to students in terms of prescribed
textbooks and references in core subjects and better in-service trainings for teachers to improve
the level of effectiveness in the enhanced learning areas; visual, auditory and kinesthetic leaning
styles. Recommend a program building activities in the enhanced learning styles, be implemented
to enhance the effectiveness of the said learning styles.
