Internship Précis

MBA offers a platform to people who aspire to rediscover themselves and this eventually exposes them
to numerous opportunities. Four of us from Symbiosis Centre for Information Technology, Pune were
provided with one such opportunity after securing an internship with one of the best companies on cam-
pus. There is no denying to the fact that VMware is among the most sought-after companies today and
a lot of graduates look forward to starting their careers here, including me.

My Summer Internship of 9 weeks between 3 April

2017 and 2 June 2017 in VMware, Kalyani Vista
Bengaluru with the BTA Process and Solutions Team
gave me an opportunity to revisit corporate environ-
ment after a year. In these nine weeks, I could see
myself evolve, fairly quickly from a new intern to a reg-
ular employee in terms of the work that I did and the
responsibilities that my fellow teammates thought I
could carry. Though I was initially aligned to work for
one project in my short span here, I got an opportunity
of working on multiple projects. I would like to stress
here on the fact that this team, or rather this company
has an incredible culture of giving its employee the flexibility to perform and grow at the pace they are
comfortable with. Throughout my journey here, I was involved in two Yellow Belt projects. These pro-
jects helped me appreciate the practical application of Six Sigma’s Process Excellence Methodologies.
I also worked for an Assessment for the Professional Services Organization. This activity helped me
understand the dynamics of Professional Services vertical at VMware and discover the difference be-
tween its working across geographies. The diversity of projects that I was exposed to here helped me
appreciate the importance of being versatile and meticulous in the best possible manner. The support
and guidance that I received throughout my journey facilitated a smooth stay during these nine weeks
and helped me self-sustain in the corporate environment. I was given constructive advice from time to
time and my managers always saw to it that they not only managed my internship but also mentored
me, all of which played a crucial role in my overall development. One minimal expectation that every
employee wishes to have from its employer is care. In VMware, care was well portrayed each time they
went an extra mile in making sure we had enough fun along with making utmost learnings out of our
internship. My internship at VMware has ignited a spark in me to push myself out of comfort zone and
march towards becoming professionally ready.
