Nightingales Trust – Bagchi Centre for Active Ageing
This place is like a second innings for the retired folks. We quickly realized that age was just
a number here and we were no match for his or her enthusiasm! Be it in the various physical
exercises we went through or the brainteasers - they were steps ahead all the way through.
Post lunch we had a session where we exchanges their experiences of Bangalore back in
1960's and what they are looking forward to do post retirement.
Jagriti School for Blind – Working with this organization has become one of
the signature events for Pune site.
VMware volunteers visit the School each quarter to help them arrange their Library of Braille
scripted academic books. Volunteers arranged the books according to subjects and labelled
it with their year of publishing and name of the books. In addition, a digital catalogue of the
books was created so the school can keep a track.
During one of the visits, volunteers helped the school in labelling the models of animals,
fruits, vegetables. The labels were braille scripted which would help the blind students to
understand the shape and size of the particular object. The activity also included making
greeting cards for the students for different occasions. Happy Serving!
