What to do:
For the gourmet hamburger
1. Prepare your mince (if making from scratch).
2. Add eggs, soy, Worcester and Tabasco sauce to your mince.
3. Season your mince mixture with salt and freshly ground pepper.
4. Heat a little olive oil in a frying pan and gently fry the onions and garlic for a few
minutes, or until the onions become translucent.
5. Remove the onions and garlic from the heat, add the dried herbs and allow them to
cool.
6. Once they’ve cooled, add the onion and garlic mixture to the mince.
7. Mix all the ingredients together with your hands until well combined.
8. Divide the burger mix into 6 even balls and shape into patties. For best results, allow
the patties to relax in the fridge for at least an hour before cooking.
9. Grill burgers on the barbecue or in a grill pan together with the streaky bacon and
mushrooms brushed with a little thyme butter. The burger should grill for
approximately 5–8 minutes on each side to achieve a medium or medium rare degree
of doneness.
10. Lastly, cut the burger buns in half and grill them for a couple of minutes.
