PAINTING AND MIXED-MEDIA


               GENERAL OBJECTIVE

               On completion of this Expressive Form, students should develop the ability to create artwork based
               on  their  own  interpretation  of  a  given  topic  or  theme  using  representational  and  non-
               representational approaches.


               SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

               Students should be able to:

               1.      create drawings relevant to painting and mixed media;

               2.      analyse the cultural, economic and expressive roles of painting and mixed media;

               3.      apply a variety of colour schemes and value scales;

               4.      apply the elements and principles of design in relation to painting and mixed media;

               5.      explore a variety of media and techniques;

               6.      apply appropriate health and safety procedures;

               7.      create aesthetically pleasing works of art;

               8.      produce finished art work using a variety of media; and,

               9.      critique their own work and that of established Caribbean and International artists.


               CONTENT

               1.      Create Drawings

                       (a)    Sketches;

                       (b)    Illustrations; and,

                       (c)    Experimental.


               2.      Cultural, economic and expressive roles of painting:

                       (a)    functions of painting in society;

                       (b)    careers; and,

                       (c)    use of painting as expressive and creative outlet.
