Unit 1
The number of candidates who wrote the CAPE Tourism Unit
1 examination increased from 1508 in 2019 to 1562 in 2020.
The percentage of candidates achieving acceptable grades,
Grades I-V in 2020 was consistent with that in 2019 and 2018.
The percentage was 97.18 in 2020; 96.53 in 2019 and 96.43 in
2018. There was significant improvement in the performance
of candidates on Paper 01, the multiple-choice paper. The mean
performance increased from 56.28 in 2019 to 75.97 in 2020.
Performance on Paper 031, the school-based assessment,
declined from 79.42 in 2019 to 77.12 in 2020. Overall improved
performance was noted across all modules.
Unit 2
The number of candidates who wrote CAPE Tourism Unit 2
examination increased from 798 in 2019 to 1,005 in 2020.
The percentage of candidates achieving acceptable grades,
Grades I-V in 2020 was consistent with that in 2019 and 2018.
The percentage was 97.62 in 2020; 99.12 in 2019; and 98.85 in
2018. Performance Paper 01, the multiple choice paper, 76.76
in 2020. Performance on Paper 031, school-based assessment
paper, was 79.41 in 2020, and 81.86 in 2019. Improvement was
also noted across all modules.
