President and Chief Executive Officer, Sisseton Wahpeton College (09/2012 – 01/2013) – Sisseton
Wahpeton College (SWC) is one of only three dozen accredited tribal colleges in the United States. As a
direct-report to SWC's Board of Trustees and as President and Chief Executive Officer, provided
direction, management, and leadership in the overall operations of the college. Represented SWC at all
public and tribal functions and presided at all academic functions. Served as the key contact person with
funding sources. Directed the development of annual budgets and oversaw all fiscal matters. Maintained
liaison with regional and national education associations and Indian organizations. Assured that SWC
complied with all college, tribal, regional, state and federal policies, regulations and laws that govern
SWC’s operations. SWC's mission is to provide higher education, research, vocational, technical and
continuing education to the members of the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate (SWO) of the Lake Traverse
Reservation and all of the other stakeholders and service population members within the SWO’s region.
SWC exists to preserve and extend Dakota culture, language, and history, while contributing to economic
development by cultivating human capital and other resources. SWC is a comprehensive community
college accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of AIHEC.
Vice President of Planning and Institutional Development, College of the Marshall Islands (11/2011 –
09/2012) – The College of the Marshall Islands (CMI) is a two-year, ACCJC-accredited, multi-campus
community college, the national college of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and a greater Pacific
community research and intellectual resource. As a direct-report to the President and as Chief Planning
and Institutional Effectiveness Officer, led CMI’s planning and effectiveness efforts. Worked
collaboratively to develop CMI’s 2012-17 Strategic Plan. Led CMI's ACCJC of the WASC accreditation
efforts. Completed CMI’s Mid-Term Report on its 2009 Self-Study and addressed related Action
Letters. Led CMI's institutional development initiatives, including employee development and mentoring
through the institution's autochthonous-peoples-focused Jitdam Kapeel programs, financial development,
institutional advancement, and revenue source alternatives planning. Served as CMI's executive
leadership team liaison with the institution's non-profit foundation support organizations.
Vice President of Student Services, College of the Marshall Islands (06/2011 – 12/2011) – As a direct-
report to the President and as Chief Student Services Officer, led a comprehensive Student Services
division, inclusive of: admissions; orientation; registrar; financial aid; health and medical services; student
conduct; counseling and advocacy; residence halls and residential life; dining services; athletics and
recreation; campus safety and security; student government and clubs; transfer, career, and alumni
services; student retention and disabled student services; outcomes research; and more. Coordinated
budget planning and administration and provided human resources and fiscal leadership for all Student
Services enterprises. During the last two months of this leadership tenure, also served as CMI’s Vice
President of Planning and Institutional Development and mentored and trained a new Dean of Student
Services under the institution's autochthonous-peoples-focused Jitdam Kapeel programs.
Executive Director of Development and External Relations, Citrus Community College District
(10/2009 – 08/2010) – As a member of the Superintendent/President’s Cabinet and Chief Institutional
Advancement Officer, coordinated a comprehensive and integrated institutional advancement enterprise,
inclusive of the CCCD’s public relations, communications, governmental relations, fund-raising,
reprographics and publications offices and programs, the alumni association, and the district’s $6-million-
corpus non-profit foundation. Collaborated in developing and communicating the goals and needs of the
CCCD to faculty, staff, students, alumni, the business community, the public, the media, local, state and
federal government, and other donors and stakeholders. Was responsible for long-range advancement
planning, budgeting, fostering college-community partnerships, events planning and hosting, cultivating
constituent relationships, and supporting and complementing the CCCD’s strategic goals and mission.
