Highlight of Accomplishments

             Long Beach Public Library, Senior Librarian in Automated Services, Year One:

                •   Khmer Cataloging Project: Created and oversaw workflows and participated in the cataloging of
                   2300+ items in vernacular Khmer – the first project of its kind in an American public library.

                •   New Library Website: Designed and launched responsive website in collaboration with City
                   Webmaster, a team of developers, and internal library committee; Established website marketing
                   schedule.

                •   ASB Priorities Rubric: Created to track staff requests, assess priorities, and gauge progress.

                •   eBook Wait Time: Decreased by 35% through strategic purchasing efforts.


                •   New Digital Resources: Introduced ReferenceUSA, New York Times Online, Archives Unbound,
                   unlimited music streaming through Freegal, unlimited movie streaming through Kanopy Kids; Added
                   several hundred MARC records to the library catalog to increase patron access to our digital
                   resources.


                •   Digital Resource Evaluation Process: Designed scalable evaluation process for ongoing
                   subscriptions and new products; Transitioned all current resources onto preferred renewal/evaluation
                   cycle.


                •   Vendor Communication: Improved communication with LBPL’s top three materials vendors;
                   Established process to recoup vendor error costs; Reviewed cataloging profiles to align expectations
                   and updated internal workflows based on results.

                •   ASB Team: Improved team communication, collaboration, morale, and productivity by establishing
                   biweekly team meeting, online SLACK space, and cross-training; Introduced optional self-evaluation
                   to ASB employee appraisal process to better gauge employee goals, needs, and objectives.
                   Established and performed evaluation cycle of all direct reports during first year and set dedicated
                   recurring touchbases.


                •   Supervisor Role: Took on additional direct report in first year; Successfully coached several staff
                   members which has resulted in measurable performance improvement; Brought on two additional
                   team members in first year: participated in recruitment, interview, training, and onboarding of new
                   Clerk and new Page in ASB; Served on interview panels for Community Information Specialist and
                   Community Programs Specialist positions.


                •   Systems Upgrade Admin: Collaborated with vendors and City Data Center to update Sierra and
                   Encore operating systems and applications to address system bugs and bring LBPL up to speed.

                •   Sierra Configuration Admin: Modified Sierra configuration to support library projects: Introduced new
                   item types and circulation rules to support STEAM MaKits; Transitioned to floating media collections to
                   improve patron access and balance budget requirements; Updated holds logic for improved efficiency
                   during Main’s book move; Introduced new tags to track gift materials.
