General Questions
1. Why are you interested in the Financial Analyst role?
Mark has been in this role for quite a long time as the CFO and Operations Manager at the
Alpine Camp and Conference Center. He is ready to bring is skillset to the City of Big Bear
Lake. He wants to focus his skillset versus the holistic responsibilities of the CFO role.
2. Please tell me about your current position and its daytoday responsibilities.
Mark is responsible for the financial analysis in his current role. He is responsible for creation of the
budget and the reconciliation of data to make the business viable. He spends his days working on ad
hoc projects and identifying where his skillset can be best applied to make the business more
efficient.
3. What do you know about the City of Big Bear Lake and the Department of Water and
Power?
Mark only knows it from a customer and neighbor standpoint. Mark is in Lake Arrowhead
and lives in a similar community.
Position Specific Questions
4. What relevant accounting experience do you have that would allow you to succeed in this
role?
Mark doesn't have much experience in public accounting, but he does have an accounting
background and is proficient with quickbooks and Excel. He has a strong foundation with accounting
practices that he feels could allow him to quickly onboard with the City of Big Bear Lake DWP.
5. The right candidate will be a longterm fit, how do you get the message across that you are
that candidate?
Mark is looking for something more local and would love to be in the community. He is looking for a
longterm fit in a position that allows for him to remain in Lake Arrowhead.
6. What do you consider to be your greatest professional strength?
He is a great team player. He loves making strides as a team and using those around him as
resources.
