Gutset
Gutset refers to our instincts and our ability to listen to our body's
signals, such as our gut feelings. This intuition is an instinctive
understanding of what’s important and what information can safely
be ignored. Although many “intuitives” would have you believe that
it’s a special gift or some sort of magic, studies show that intuition
is a very real process where the subconscious brain takes into
account every single thing that you have ever observed. This
process happens so quickly that it doesn’t register with our
conscious mind.
“There are known knowns. These are things we know that
we know… But there are also unknown unknowns. There
are things we don't know we don't know.”
Donald Rumsfeld
Our gutset can impact our ability to gain clarity by providing us with
an intuitive sense of what is right or wrong for us. When we trust our
gut instincts and listen to our body's signals, we can make decisions
that are in alignment with our values and purpose.
Our gut feelings are important and ensure that we pay attention to the
most relevant aspects of our environment. It’s important to remember,
however, that gut feelings are not always correct. That’s not the point of
them.
Gut feelings will not give you clear right or wrong answers that you can then
rationally evaluate. Some examples of the downside to relying solely on gutset include
Risk-taking: Can lead to taking unnecessary risks that may not be in the best interest of the
business.
Impulsivity: Sometimes leads to impulsive decisions that are not well-thought-out.
Lack of logic: It may not always align with logic and reason, leading to decisions that don't
make sense.
If an entrepreneur focuses solely on gutset, they may become too impulsive and take
unnecessary risks that can harm the business. This can lead to making decisions that are not
well-thought-out, ignoring data and feedback, and taking actions that are not in alignment with
the long-term vision for the business or ourselves.
That’s all well and good, yet how do you actually balance the three? I’m glad you asked! There
are some things that you can integrate into your daily life which will support you in bringing the
three keys together in harmony.
The very first thing you need to do is a pattern interrupt. Break the cycle of going over and over
the same arguments with yourself. Try something new: breathe. Yes, I know you’re already
breathing. What I want from you is to focus on deep breaths from the belly. Don’t know how?
Visit https://bit.ly/breathewithangel. Why do we do this? First and foremost, our bodies need
oxygen. We need this oxygen to permeate every cell in our muscles, brains, and nervous system.
When we stop and take these deep breaths, it activates the parasympathetic nervous system
and lowers blood pressure. Essentially, we calm ourselves down, which will let us concentrate. It
also allows us to focus on the present moment and leave all distractions behind so that we can
genuinely tap into our clarity.
