Business
(Cambridge Technical Level 3 Certificate / Introductory Diploma)
Cambridge Technical Business Level 3 is a vocational business qualification, not an A level. It
is assessed through a combination of exams and coursework the course includes the study
of a wide variety of business disciplines and practices.
Course content (over two years) for the current CTech Business course:
• The business environment - compulsory unit
• Business resources - compulsory unit
• Four more units - there is a wide choice of optional units including marketing, business
accounting, human resource management, managing a business event, business law,
business ethics & international business.
Successful completion of six units leads to a Cambridge Technical Introductory Diploma in
Business (equivalent UCAS points to an A level).
If pupils take this course for one year only, they would complete three units and, if successful,
would be awarded the Cambridge Technical Certificate in Business. This qualification is
equivalent to AS level for UCAS points.
From September 2018 there will be changes to this course, including the introduction of
external examinations. However, the focus will remain vocational, the exams are less essay-
based than A levels and there will still be coursework units.
Entry requirements:
5 or more GCSEs, including English and Mathematics. However, if pupils need to re-take
English or Mathematics and are accepted into the Sixth Form at Kingham Hill, they are still
eligible to take this course.
