SMOKING POLICY

Cowch is committed to eliminating the risk of illness to employees,
contractors and guests resulting from passive smoking in the
workplace. In keeping with this commitment, staff are not permitted to
smoke on the premises, except in designated smoking areas.

In compliance with Cowch’s duty of care under occupational health
and safety legislation and in line with medical evidence, community

expectations and high standards of food hygiene, smoking is not
permitted in or near the venue.

It is a legal requirement that guests smoke no less than 4 meters from
        the boundary of the venue.
Cowch staff may smoke only in the designated smoking areas, away

from the venue, as advised. Staff must never smoke in view of guests
        or in their uniform.

Should an employee wish to smoke during work hours, or before or
after a shift, they will only do so with the approval of the manager or
shift supervisor. Staff will always wash their hands thoroughly after
        smoking.

        mobile phone POLICY

To ensure a smooth, successful and stress-free service for all team
members, it is important that you are present and focused. For this
reason, mobile phones are not permitted to be carried on shift.

Mobile phones must not be carried or used on shift (managers
excluded). Phones must remain in your bag, in the staff area, unless
you are on a designated break.

Please Note: Bathroom breaks do not constitute a designated break.

        It’s not us, it’s science:
Studies show that even the mere presence of a mobile phone has a
‘brain drain’ effect that significantly reduces people’s attention spans.

Researchers at the University of Texas discovered that people are
worse at conducting tasks and remembering information if they have a

        smartphone within reach.
In two experiments they found that carrying a mobile phone (even
in a pocket or bag), significantly reduces focus, attention and the

        concentration of the user.
