“ The Heart of Singapore :
Research and Human Resource ”
Miss Panisa Roopan
Singapore is a small country but it has the concepts of a
“smart nation” (Sharma, 2017) the statement might have a clue of why
this small city develops so fast. The key to development is research.
As we all know that Singapore is a small country with insufficient
natural resources, but with the human resource that they have, they
make the best use out of it. The research is constantly created to
keep the country growing. In the mid-80s, the Singapore government
first identified the need for national technology policy. With the focus
on science and technology, the diverse range of research facilities
emerge.
I searched for further information and found a research
concern on technology such as the smart CCTV by Rhaman (2017)
which is an example of how Singapore utilized the research to improve
the quality of life by creating the new CCTV technology to enhance
the law enforcement capability. That’s why there are rarely crime
cases in Singapore.
As I mentioned that human resource is
crucial, they are encouraged to reach a high educational
level. Singapore is known as the center of the best
educational system. The government gives high
importance to education. According to the speech at the
Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore, the people are well
educated, so the locals usually hold a high position in the
workplace. I think this is the key factor to reach
Singapore to the top rank in the most developed country.
