"They're pretty even all over the field," he said.

In-form full-forward Jason Clarke shapes as Port Colts' trump in attack.

Clarke (50 goals) leads the competition goal-kicking by one goal from Hoppers Crossing's Paul
               Gilmour (49).”

“Port Colts president Peter Ilsley couldn't 'contain his delight in the crowded dressing rooms after
Saturday's thrilling one-point win over premiership favourites Parkside.

The Borough had scored a grand win against a grand opponent.

It had been a mighty game — the probable grand final preview.

Ilsley was full of praise for the vanquished Magpies.

               "Commiserations to them," he said.

"Both clubs can look forward to a productive September."

Elusive utility Sean Weir was hailed as the match-winner after coolly snapping the winning goal in
the dying minutes of the game.

Parkside almost grabbed victory with only seconds remaining when on-baller Dennis Ryan had a
               flying shot from the boundary.

It just missed to the left.

Parkside looked like running away with the game after racing to a 22-point lead in the first term.

But the reigning premiers have still got it and hit back hard — with ace full-forward Jason Clarke (five
goals) providing a target —to grab the lead early in the second term.

Port Colts may have snuck home by a whisker, but the Footscray District Football League was the big
               winners.”

               Port Colts 17.11-113 d. Parkside 17.10-112
