Parkside Football Club 1897/2017

Playing coach Phil O'Keeffe lauded Hervatin, describing him as "the eighth wonder of the world".

"He's on the bench all the time — he's the only bench specialist I've known in my 26 years in
               football," he said.

"He's out-smarted us. Most blokes would whinge (about starting so many games on the bench), but
not 'The Ox' — he just starts eating pies and chips."

Hervatin's simple food-infested plan works every time, according to O'Keeffe.

He says a "horrified" club chairman of selectors Roy Lane is always pleading with him "to get 'The Ox'
               on as quickly as possible".

"Roy is pretty good on the fang, too," O'Keeffe said with a chuckle.

He absolutely hates it when 'The Ox' starts eating his pies and chips,"

O'Keeffe described Hervatin's appetite for goals on Saturday as 'just fantastic' ' .

O'Keeffe and his players were pumped up to celebrate club icon and hard-at-it centre half-forward/
ruckman Craig Browne-Kerr's 350th game in style.

Not that Browne-Kerr wanted anvone to know about his magical milestone.

"He didn't want no fanfare —he didn't want no banner," O'Keeffe said.

"He didn't even want me to tell the players, but I did anyway."

It was certainly an extremely content Browne-Kerr who walked triumphantly from the ground at the
end of the game — no doubt delirious that he'll be playing in the grand final in 10 or 11 days’ time
               (subject to FDFL scheduling).

The Magpies smashed the match open in the third quarter, slamming on a match-winning 6.7 to 1.1.

A one-point deficit at half-time had suddenly become a 35-point lead for Parks.

The injury-ravaged Borough hit back courageously in the last quarter, but fell just short.

O'Keeffe was full of praise for them.

“I think Port Colts showed a ton of spirit," he said.

“It was a sensational effort by them."

He was rapt with his side's win. "They (the Borough) were a big bogey to us," he said.

"We were battered and bruised, but were good enough to get over the line."

Rover Ali Taleb was a real driving force as he gathered countless possessions.
