returning to school with a parent’s/guardian’s note. To
stay in longer than one day, scholars will need to bring a
note from the doctor.
6. Scholars are expected to go to the restroom during
breaks, transitions, and recess. I realize this is not always
possible and will be handled on a case by case basis.
Scholars will need to get the bathroom pass from the
teacher/aide. We encourage scholars to be responsible
and use the restroom appropriately and not during class
instruction unless it is an emergency.
7. Water bottles are permitted in the classroom for
scholars to keep on their desks during the day. Please
make sure that your scholar writes their name on their
water bottle to avoid loss and health issues. Plain water is
the only beverage permitted and must contain a secure lid.
Water bottles should be taken home regularly and
cleaned. If the water bottle becomes a distraction to the
scholar and those around him/her, they will lose the
privilege of keeping it at their desk. Water bottles should
be filled before school and during breaks.
8. Daily Learning Plans (DLP’s) are a useful tool to help
your scholar stay organized as well as a great
communication tool between the teacher and
parent/guardian. Your scholar will be graded on
completing their DLP on a weekly basis. DLP’s are signed
each evening by the parent/guardian. This is to help me
know that the parent/guardian is aware of the scholar’s
assignments and behavior. Scholars also need to record
the number of minutes they read each day. Reading
