BOOK READER
Requirements:
1. Produce a list of at least 6 books you have read or used recently, name their
authors and be able to tell your leader something about three of the books. The
three books to be chosen by you are to include at least one fiction and at least one
non-fiction book.
Note: The three books must be a reasonable standard, taking the Cub Scout's age and
development into account.
2. Show that you understand how to care for books.
3. Show that you can use a dictionary, encyclopedia and an atlas.
4. Explain to your leader how the books in a library are set out and how to find
fiction and non-fiction books.
CAMPER
Requirements:
1. Have camped under canvas with a Troop or Patrol for a total of not less than
fifteen nights.
2. Pitch and strike a hike tent.
3. Direct successfully the pitching, the striking and packing of a patrol tent.
4. Know what to look for when choosing a campsite.
5. Show understanding of the principles of camp hygiene and the importance of
order and cleanliness in camp generally.
6. Demonstrate how to store food in a quartermaster's tent.
7. Construct alone a camp ladder, a camp oven and two other camp gadgets of
your own choice.
8. At a camp, cook for yourself and at least one other but not more than a normal
patrol – either a hot breakfast meal, or a dish for a main meal which must include
two vegetables.
9. Have a good knowledge of Scout Camping.
