Not much is known yet about
this silversmith. This late
19th century traditional ‘toh”
is the only example of silver
carrying the mark that has
been recorded to date.
Particularly interesting from
a manufacturing point of
view is the square nut that
secures the dish to the base
section. While this appears
to be original to the piece, it
is not the quatrefoil nut that
w a s p r e v a l e n t a m o n g
Chinese silversmiths from
the mid 19th century through
to the early 20th century.
