LUEN HING
231 Szechuan Road, Shanghai
circa 1880-1925
Luen Hing was solely a retail silversmith, operating an emporium-type establishment for luxury goods with the
emphasis on silver items. It was a high quality business, pitched towards the foreign community as well as the
growing affluent middle class Chinese.
The following tea wares set is typical of its merchandise. As with most retail silversmiths operating in this
period, they maintained their control over style and quality to a level that suited their own clientele.
