NANKING JEWELRY COMPANY
            145, Chung Chin Road, Nanking
            circa 1910-1940

Nanking Jewelry Company has no connection with Nanking Store in Shanghai

Nanking Jewelry Store was a retail silversmith. It is not yet clear whether it was also a workshop. It is one of the
most elusive marks in Chinese Export Silver. Contrary to its name, it sold items other than silver jewellery, in
that respect it bore a similarity to C.J.Co. [China Jewellery Company].

Confusion is caused, however, when auction houses and online auction sites confuse items that carry a
Nanking Store silver mark with Nanking Jewelry Company; this is a common occurrence.

This machine turned circa 1935 cigarette box is fairly typical of the type of item that are to be found carrying this
mark, albeit it will be rare.
