A CLOISONNE enamel ‘LIONS’ CIRCULAR BOX
AND COVER
QING DYNASTY, 18TH-19TH CENTURY
The cover is enamelled in vibrant tones with a pair of lions, one playing
with its cub, the other gambolling around a large ribboned brocade
ball, surrounded by a band of floral meander on the sides, which is
similarly repeated on the sides of the box above further floral motifs on
the base. The interiors are enamelled turquoise.
