QING DYNASTY, 17TH-18TH CENTURY
The shaft and cover are each intricately carved
through the red lacquer to the dark green
ground with alternating scenes of scholars
and attendants in lesiurely pursuits amidst
pavilions, pine trees, bamboo and prunus
blossoms, all enclosed within ruyi-shaped
cartouches.

A CARVED CINNABAR
LACQUER WRIST REST
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
The gently arched wrist rest is delicately
carved to depict Lin Bu and his attendant in
a landscape scene, underneath prunus trees
and a crane flying amidst wispy clouds. The
reverse is lacquered black.
